Heard you have a problem – a monster you call a Shrieker? Aye, prowls about, it does. Snatches cows and goats, mostly, but it won’t scorn a man if it runs into one.
-Conversation overheard at Crow’s Perch
Upon Entering Crow’s Perch you hear word of a particularly shrouded monster that has been tormenting the locals for weeks. First livestock was missing, then children, and now guardsmen are supposedly getting carried away by this beast. Further investigation is irresistible as you slowly follow the clues that lead you to the Shrieker’s lair.
Upon close examination of the contents inside the cave, you quickly discover that the Shrieker is none other than a Cockatrice, and an experienced one at that. Cockatrice, unlike Griffins are Draconid Creatures; Or a Semi-Reptilian species usually equipped with 6 limbs; 4 legs, and a set of wings. Cockatrice specifically, have distinct chicken like features for a head and wings, and reptile like body and legs. The Cockatrice’s smaller wings provide them with lighter arms, and faster swiping with their razor sharp claws. Their massive head and beak provides them with powerful headbutting abilities and deadly pecks.
Cockatrice are relatively rare creatures, especially in populated areas like the one surrounding Crow’s Perch, but older monsters develop new tricks to stay alive. The Shrieker for instance lived in a cave underground, as appose to a nest on a hill, or in a tree.
As dangerous as these creatures go, the Shrieker proves no chance for you, as you climb back out of its liar, and tie its head to your horses saddlebags to bring back to town. The villagers in there entirety have pitched in to reward you with a job well done; Leaving a large hole in their pocket. The Baron however, is nowhere to be seen as of yet. As the villagers grow less and less patient with his incompetence.
